Ístak is working for Statens Vegvesen on Osterøy in Hordaland, Norway. Osterøy is an inland island 45 km north east from central Bergen.
The project consists of road work, bridge construction and tunnelling.
The road work is 5 sections of the Rv 567 between Hauge and Lonevåg. The longest section is 1.100 m and the shortest 120 m of the total 2 km of 7.5 m wide road. In addition, 900 m of pedestrian- and bicycle paths are laid.

The bridge is a 90 m long, three span concrete structure and steel piles must be driven into a tidal channel that the bridge crosses. In addition, two tunnel portals, one underpass and two sheds for electrical and control equipment, are built of concrete.
The tunnelling is a 1.550 m long type T8.5 tunnel. The tunnel has two lay-bys and is to be built complete with lights, ventilation and safety equipment. The tunnel is to replace an old winding road between the town of Hauge and Lonevåg village.
In addition, one street in Lonevåg is to be rebuilt and one hair pin bend 5 km east of Lonevåg improved.

Main quantities are: 100.000 m3 rock blasting in the tunnel and 40.000 m3 in the road. Excavation and hauling of loose material in road works is some 80.000m3.
Concrete in buildings is about 1.500 m3 and shotcrete in tunnel about 5.000 m3.
Construction time is 2 years and completion before 15 September 2011.

First ship load with equipment from Iceland arrived in Bergen on 20 September 2009 and the second on 22 November 2009. Up until Christmas site was being established and tunnelling from Hauge prepared for. First blast for the tunnel was in December 2009.

The winter was rather hard on us. Everything was under snow from the middle of December until middle of March, which is unusual for this region. This was accompanied by heavy frost, sometimes between -15°C and -24°C for days on end. This unusual weather had detrimental effect on progress. These days the weather is however mild and frost only one night this week.

24.000 m3 of rock has now been blast and 52.000 m3 of loose material shifted or removed from the road bed. One bridge abutment has been cast; piles have been driven for foundations in the channel and formwork started for one. The tunnel has advanced 660 m from Hauge and 5 m from Lonevåg.

The plan is to finish the bulk of the work before New Year and complete in May 2011.

90 people are anticipated on the project this summer and into autumn, with 60 on site at any given time.

Osterøy is the largest inland island in Norway and north Europe, with an area of 329 km2 and 7.500 inhabitants. The island has connections to the mainland by a suspension bridge and a ferry. The bridge is 917 m long, the longest span being 595 m. This bridge was opened for traffic in 1997 and became notorious in Norway and further afield. Extreme oscillations developed in winds over 9 m/sec. In the year 2000, some windbreakers were eventually installed on the bridge that has since behaved.
