The project – Expansion of the south wing for the Air Terminal in Keflavik – involves in renovating 2,000 m² in the south building of the air terminal in Keflavik and making a 7,000 m² extension to the north on three floors. The extension is built over a part of the existing basement of the south building as well as covering a part of the gangway to the  5/25 and 6/26 lanes.

On top of the new extension will be a two-storey watch tower and facilities for staff members. Both  the gangway and the South Building will be in full use during construction except for closure of lanes 5/25 and 6/26.

The south building is divided into “Schengen” and “Non-Schengen” zones, which needs to be taken into account due to closures and changes in passenger traffic during the construction period.
