ÍSTAK recently bought three new excavators. These are: Volvo EC380EL (38-39t) crawler excavator, Volvo EW160E (17-18t) wheel excavator and Volvo ECR25D mini excavator. This acquisition updated ÍSTAK’s grave fleet as four older machines were sold last year. ÍSTAK bought the excavators from the dealer Brimborg and they were assembled according to ÍSTAK’s whishes. Therefore they are now equipped with all necessary accessories for ÍSTAK’s projects.
“We chose Volvo engines because they are fuel efficient, practical and they are also quite environmentally friendly. Volvo’s unique ECO mode optimizes the hydraulic system to reduce flow and pressure losses – resulting in improved fuel efficiency without any loss of performance in most operating conditions. The facilities for the technical manager is very good and the oil center available to keep the house warm controller without the engine running unnecessarily,” says Dagbjartur Sveinsson, Buyer at ÍSTAK. These new machines will further strengthen the productivity and production at ÍSTAK where e.g. less downtime is expected due to machine maintenance.
The machines are already in use. The crawler excavator is in use byt the Marine Outfall in West Iceland. The wheel excavator in Mosfellsbæ and will later be in use by the expansion of Keflavik’s Airport and finally the mini excavator which is working hard on the expansion of Klettaskóli.
